Tittle : Lecturer-student relationship, anything wrong?
Despite the sound of the sentence which could get pretty ‘naughty’, let’s just take a peek at the path where the word ‘relationship’ takes us, and based on the circumstances and situations that might have been relating to this blog owner’s daily working environment, I assume we can drop the ‘naughtiness’ aspect of the sentence aside, and look at this topic from a ‘cleaner’ point of view.
The meaning of ‘clean’ relationship between lecturers and students could stray from students looking to their lecturers as idols, to some sort of cute crush towards adorable or charismatic lecturers, or even further, blooming L.O.V.E. of two innocents who are separated by, well, just titles.
And there, we have the letters L.O.V.E. (cough*ashley-simpsons*cough). Something as natural as love cannot be wrong…… Or can it? Yes it can, if the people who judge are sticking to the lame idea of ‘lecturers should not have affairs with students, or they will be known as perverts’. We somehow manage to plant that idea in our heads, and to make it even worse, we exaggerate it to a level that to even think about that idea is wrong.
Maybe this ‘wrong’ feeling comes from the fact that most of lecturers are, urmmm, old.. So old lecturer and young student being lovey-dovey toward each other seems wrong (not that it is wrong) to some people, and this fact punishes the rest of not-so-old lecturers who naively and naturally fell in L.O.V.E. (cough*ashley-simpsons-again*cough). So what if they (lecturers and students) have a cute, clean relationship that might ends with marriage and living happily ever-after? Is that wrong? No, IT IS NOT WRONG for lecturers and students to have relationships between each other. :)
